there were 4 sixth-grade teachers from Cornerstone Academy that applied for a technology grant and lo and behold, got it! This blog will be used to communicate the successes and setbacks that our team will experience through the 2009 - 2010 school year.
Follow us as we attempt to maneuver the ups and downs of the iPod touch as a daily classroom tool and a way to extend student learning beyond school hours.
Team members are: Janet Christman & Kathleen Grant (Math/Science) and Holly Smetek & Kristine Kenny (Language Arts/Social Studies). Feel free to contact us individually through the district e-mail.
We are excited and anxious about the challenge of learning and using the new technology with our students, but together we are confident that we can meet the challenge of the new look of learning.

We had a meeting today and are getting more and more excited about the opportunity to get our plans started. Sounds like we will have the equipment in a couple of weeks, so we will be off and running.
We are getting our classroom ready for our small group instruction component of our grant. We have been busy, painting, cleaning and rearranging.
We are making our plans and have certainly begun the transformation of our classroom. Fellow teachers and former students have commented on how great things look. We are excited to have small group stations set up and are ready for school to begin on Monday. We met many of our students last night at Back to School Night and are anxious to see them on Monday for the first day of school.
We are still waiting for our technology to arrive and getting more excited as we see all the ways we will be able to implement the technology into our classroom.
Small group instruction and stations are going well. Teachers and students are learning more and more about managing time.
October 6 is the big day; we are actually going to get the itouches in the hands of our kids. Hooray!. We are still working on the details and procedures for sending them home with the kids, but we are finally getting started. The minis are working well and kids are enjoying them.
